    • AssignmentsIn my 30 years as a photo journalist and garden photographer, I have traveled all around the United States, worked for most of the garden publishers, have been the sole photographer for more than 20 books, and licensed thousands of photos. Here in this category, I highlight some of my favorite projects and the folks with whom I collaborated .
    • WorkshopsWorkshops postings generally come from my book: “The PhotoBotanic Garden Photography Workshop”. Here I post snippets of those workshops and share photos from students.

    • PhotoBotanicPhotoBotanic is my commercial brand as well as a photo process where I make botanic illustrations, celebrating plants. In this category look for news on the products, e-books, and prints to be found on the PhotoBotanic.com website as they are created. ((Link))

Workshops

I give lectures and mini workshops at garden club meetings, one day workshops with student critiques, and two day master workshops with early morning access to special gardens. It's fun, we are all garden photographers.

As the former Director of Photography at San Francisco Botanical Garden I am delighted to give workshops and genuinely hope others learn to take better garden photographs so that collectively we garden photographers spread the beauty of gardens to others. A workshop student once teased that I was “training the competition”, when In fact, there is no competition. It's not a competitive sport, gardens win when we show good photos.

Collectively it is really fun to learn together but I have also created an entire on-line Garden Photography Workshop and a series of e-books to support the Learning Center on the PhotoBotanic website.
